Enjoyed your Celebrity Whew! site. I was a contestant on the show too. I would kill to have a videotape of the show on which I appeared (my celebrity partner was Roxie Roker). I was quite nervous during the taping and remember almost nothing of the experience.
I had never seen the show before. One afternoon I drove a friend to CBS studios, and I was waiting in an office lobby while he went to his meeting. Like something out of a movie, some guy with cameras around his neck rounded the corner, gave me the once over, and shouted out, "I want that girl!" He then whisked me through a throng of hopeful contestants. I was so shy at the time and was frantic how I would do at my impromptu "audition." Did just fine. But waited for months to get on the show. I was waiting during the interim period when they decided to bring in celebrities to beef up the ratings. As it turned out, I would have fared much better had Roxie Roker not been my partner. She missed almost every question, as I recall. But I did receive several thousand dollars worth of consolation prizes (including a refrigerator/freezer).
If you have any tapes of the old shows, and happen to have the one with me, I'd love to get a copy.
As an aside, I guess I was a good contestant. Kerry (the contestant coordinator) called me several months after my appearance and asked me to be on a pilot for another game show. I went to the audition, but the show (name unknown to me) never made it on the air. Thus ended my illustrious television career!
Thanks for creating the Web site.
